Organic Absorbents Ltd, manufacturer of the Fattrap, has signed chef Brian Turner, CBE.

Turner has been appointed to formally launch the product, an environmentally fat catching device, at a series of events across the country. A key part of his role will involve encouraging householders to use the Fattrap as a clean, cost-effective and convenient way of disposing unwanted cooking fats and oils, without damaging the environment.

The Yorkshire born chef will also be taking part in a series of newspaper interviews, fronting the product on television and appearing in, food, household and gadget magazines.

It is anticipated that Brian will further intensify the level of media interest for the product, which has already received an excellent review from the consumers’ bible, Which? magazine. Fattrap which is supported by a cross-section of organisations ranging from water authorities to members of the Women’s Institute, has already featured in caravanning journals, leading consumer titles and other sector specific publications.

First attracted by the Fattrap’s environmental credentials, Brian is now convinced of the product’s huge potential for becoming an everyday household name.

Commenting on his role as the new ambassador for the Fattrap, Brian Turner said: “I am looking forward to working closely with Organic Absorbents over the next six months and hope to raise the awareness even further of the environmental issues that the Fattrap can help solve.

“I think that the Fattrap pouches are innovatively designed and provide convenience, cleanliness and flexibility in the kitchen – the pouches are a perfect mess-free way of getting rid of unwanted cooking fats and oils and should be used to support everyday cooking.”

Over the coming months, as part of a coordinated marketing campaign, Turner and Organic Absorbents will be working to educate households and businesses on the detrimental impact of fat and demonstrating Fattrap as the ideal user friendly solution to the problem.

Organic Absorbent’s managing director, Geoff Nutland, said: “We are delighted to have signed Brian up to support our campaign. Brian’s credentials as a celebrity chef, his Yorkshire background and enthusiasm for improving the environment, ticked all the boxes and we are therefore very pleased to have him as part of the team.”

The Fattrap is attractively packaged and is ideal for kitchenware or houseware retail. It is 100% organic and biodegradable, meeting consumers’ demands for more environmentally friendly products, and is already stocked by the UK’s largest independent wholefood distributor. Organic Absorbents is currently finalising its summer retail campaign with a number of well known high street multiples.
